Supporting health workers to make the best decisions when and where it matters most
Since 2009, we have worked with UpToDate, a leading clinical decision support tool, and other digital tool providers to facilitate free access to health workers in low resource settings around the world. UpToDate allows users to easily search and access the latest information to make better care decisions for the patients and populations they treat, with research backing its positive impact on care.
Better Evidence for Clinical Care grants clinicians free access to evidence-based digital tools to ensure that they have the information needed to diagnose, treat, and advise their patients. Learn more here.
Better Evidence for Training builds the capacity of the next generation of leaders in the health workforce. We know that when provided access to clinical decision support tools in training, students continue to use such tools in practice. Since 2015, we have worked with UpToDate, providing free, institutional licenses to eligible medical schools and affiliated clinical sites. In 2020, we began partnering with Osmosis, a visual learning platform that makes complex medical topics easy to understand through expertly illustrated visuals based on evidence-based learning science. In 2022, we began working with Trip Pro, a clinical search engine for users to quickly and easily find and use high-quality research evidence to support their practice. We support representatives – Better Evidence Champions – from each of these participating medical schools to facilitate uptake, understanding, and use of these tools locally within their institutions. To date, we have:
- Distributed 200,000 subscriptions to clinicians working in low resource settings across 182 countries
- Facilitated digital tools to more than 89,000 students, residents, and faculty in 59 medical schools across 16 countries in Africa
- Worked with 100+ local Champions to reach the next generation of health workers
- Changed 15 million clinical decisions
