The Global Health Delivery Project at Harvard (GHD) is an interdisciplinary collaboration between Harvard Business School, Harvard Medical School, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. GHD investigates the management decisions behind disease treatment and prevention globally. These lessons are disseminated through multiple channels, including open-access online professional communities (www.ghdonline.org), case studies (hbsp.harvard.edu/list/ghd), educational programs, and scholarly publications.
GHD’s overall mission is to build a network of professionals dedicated to improving the delivery of value-based health care globally.
Since its founding, GHD has instructed thousands of students, including national leaders, in global health delivery and has published 40 open-access teaching case studies and teaching notes.Role
This position will work with staff, faculty and others in the creation of two Global Health Delivery teaching cases on positive health outcomes in Sri Lanka and Kerala, India to be used as part of a larger project on positive health exemplars and published through Harvard Business Publishing.
The cases may explore the factors (historical, economic, social, and cultural) that contributed to health gains and allow readers to consider some of the following: Why do they have better than expected health outcomes? Who were the leaders and how did they accelerate or hinder performance? What examples, data, models, financing mechanisms, etc. were used? Which policies and programs outside the health system impact health outcomes? How will current efforts preserve the gains that have been made in considering the shifting health and epidemiologic landscape?
Case research shall be done by: drafting and refining case outlines; completing literature reviews of related subjects; executing web-based searches; coordinating, arranging and conducting interviews with experts and involved public, private and multi-lateral organizations; ensuring accurate transcription of interviews; conducting on-site field research; analyzing data collected; drafting case materials, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative data; and collecting and suggesting case exhibits in accordance with Global Health Delivery standards for publication.
The GHD Case Study Researcher will also be expected to contribute to a companion teaching note to accompany the teaching case for instructors to use to guide classroom discussion, highlighting issues in public health and global health delivery; manage data and information collected; and aid the supervising staff and faculty in developing detailed work plans. This is a time-limited contract position.Qualifications

- Experience with quantitative and qualitative research, including high-level interviews
- Ability to travel for up to six weeks consecutively
- Ability to work independently and to work collaboratively with colleagues who are not co-located
- Experience with journalism, teaching case research and writing, or related activities
